Whitney Houston and Dana Bash
Whitney Elizabeth Houston was born into a musical family on August 9th, 1963 in Newark New Jersey the daughter of gospel singer Cissy Houston (nee Emily Lee Drinkard) and John Russell Houston Jr. and cousin of singer Dionne Warwick. As a young girl, Houston started performing professionally in the church choir. Houston sang the backing vocals for Chaka Khosn's single from 1978 Im Every Woman with her mother. In the year 1981, she worked as a fashion model, and was featured on the Seventeen Cover. She also provided back vocals for Jermaine and Lou Rawls. Her vocals with the New York-based group Material brought attention to major record labels such as Arista. The label signed her to Arista in 1983 and continued to work for the rest of her professional career. The album she released as her debut Whitney Houston was released in 1985 and became the biggest-selling album of a debut artist. Many hit songs, including the hit songs Saving All My Love For You How Will I Know That You Love Me as well as The greatest Love of All were released on the album. They set her up to smash the Beatles record with seven consecutive US number ones. Album sold in US 3,000,000 copies before it reached 25,000,000 copies worldwide. This earned her the first in her 6 Grammy Awards. The Whitney album of 1987, featuring the tracks that I Wanna Dance With Somebody and Where Do Broken Hearts Get to continue her popularity. It is The Bodyguard of 1992 that was her breakthrough album and made her one of the top-selling artists in history. The film and her part in it was not appreciated, but the soundtrack as well as her version of Dolly Parton's I Will Always Love You were charting for months on the charts and she sold over 44 million singles and albums worldwide. The same year, she got married to Bobby Brown who was a previous New Edition singer. She had their only daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown together on March 23, 1993. Around this time the drug use was well-documented and she began using daily in 1996.
Dana Bash or Dana Ruth Schwartz in the way she's well-known as an American anchorwoman reporter, as well as CNN's political correspondent. In the past, she has created shows for CNN, including Evans & Novak' Late Editionand Inside Politics'. Bash was awarded a Women in Washington Power List prize by Elle magazine.
