Winona-Ryder

Winona Ryder - Winona Lauro Horowitz - was born in Winona Minnesota. The parents of Winona Ryder gave her the name of her hometown. Michel Horowitz' father was editor and author and editor, as was Cynthia Palmer and her mother. Ryder's parents also happen to be Jewish. Ryder believes herself to be Jewish. Uria is Ryder's younger sister. Jubal, Sunyata and Sunyata are her half-siblings. Ryder's family relocated from Mendocino County to California at the age of seven. The family didn't have electricity. Ryder would read extensively because of the lack of television. When she turned twelve, Ryder enrolled in the American Conservatory Theatre to take acting classes. In 1986 she landed her first big-screen role in the movie Lucas at just 15 years old. Ryder experienced bullying at her high school. Ryder hoped that her actions might change the situation. But it wasn't to come to be. Still, she kept chasing her dreams. Her biggest break was in 1988 when she appeared in Tim Burton's Beetlejuice. Ryder was able to continue her successful performances in several movies. She received nominations for two Academy Awards one for her part in The Age of Innocence (1993).
