Singer-songwriter John Denver touched millions of people. He also achieved the status of a superstar by his folk-inspired pop hits that were often rooted in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was born in Roswell in New Mexico. He fell in love with Colorado and moved to Aspen. Denver's popular songs about his home state encouraged many to move to Colorado. It's hard to think of another performer in the world who is as empathetic to Colorado as well as John Denver said G. Brown director of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame. In 2011, Denver was named the Hall of Fame's very first inductee. In the present, he's seen as the embodiment of Colorado by people across the world. Certainly in my travels you come across someone from another end of the planet, someone comes from New Zealand and you say "I'm from Colorado and the very first thing that comes you hear is"Oh John Denver! Brown admitted. Denver's debut Top 10 hit as a solo artist after a short stint in smaller folk groups was Take Me Home Country Roads which was co-written by Bill Danoff. Danoff wrote the song along with Johnny Cash in mind but the moment Denver saw an early rendition it was clear that it was a hit single. After a few days of performing to an audience of over a hundred within Washington D.C., the singer recorded his song.
